nebrisContext: back in 2009 the wife and I created a Live Journal clone I named Commie Journal. It failed, as I related below.
~While sharing my feelings about the impending demise of CJ, some have asked me if I'm a 'Communist'. To which I respond, “Which definition of communism are you referring to?” [Remember, I was raised by Jews lol]
The vast majority of folks, even those who should know better, really mean Marxism, in which case, the answer is No.
For the very small number of folks who mean “Do you believe in the efficacy of collective socio-economic systems?” the answer is Sorta.
I chose the name Commie Journal, and utilized a semi-Soviet color scheme, because I am, as it says in a number of places, "a paradoxical mixture of wise sage and foolish prankster," which is just fancy way of saying headfucker, but with a Purpose. And the semi-Soviet color scheme looked cool.
But that is all tangential to my beliefs...and I've been cogitating upon said subject and will share a few, though certainly not all, of my cogitations. You'll have to wait for the rest.
I proclaim that Marxism – and all its various incarnations as Leninism, Troskyism, Stalinism, Maoism, etc – failed and will continue to fail for one primary reason: because they do not simply ignore human metaphysical concerns, but violently reject them, instead presenting what is, in essence, a grand version of 'three hots and a cot' for everyone.
That's quite a lovely vision when you're Oppressed and Brutalized, but once you're warm and well fed, we humans need Purpose. But not just any old Purpose will do, like say, liberating Oppressed and Brutalized strangers who you do not know and to whom you may have to share some of this newly acquired Food and Shelter. No, no, 'Screw you, Jack, I've got mine!'
No, humans need a Greater Purpose, and for that, you need a metaphysical paradigm.
Religion has long filled that particular need, but always degenerates into Fear and Control. This is why I use the word Metaphysics. It simply means 'after the physic' or the scientific study of the 'non-physical'. It differs from Religion in that as the science of the Physical expands, it moves the boundaries of the Metaphysical forward – optimally at least - whereas Religion is fixed in place by Dogma.
And here comes The Pitch:
“So here is what we propose: creating a society that is both stable and dynamic, a society that has two primary purposes: First, to strive to honestly understand the true nature of everything in the universe, which is ultimately The Search for The Creatrix...and Second, to raise generations of daughters who are strong, healthy, and balanced in Mind, Body, and Spirit so that the First Purpose may be pursued without pause or hindrance.”

And that is what I believe in.
