Part of the problem with talking to Americans about Climate Change is the use of Celsius. So here's a little heads up...

2°C = 35.6°F

4°C = 39.2°F

So the average temp in NYC in August is 82°F. A global rise of 2°C would make that 118.6°F. A global rise of 4°C would make that 121.2°F.

The average temp in NYC in January is 27°F. A global rise of 2°C would make that 62.6°F. A global rise of 4°C would make that 66.2°F.

Those are averages, not highs. And those two numbers are a 'best case' scenario by the second half of this century if we get busy. If not, temps could go by 8°C [46.4°F] to 12°C [53.6°F]. I'll let y'all do your own math on that...

Nope. Check your math. Converting 82F to C we subtract 32 degrees, get 50, and multiply that by 5/9, and get 27.8.

A rise of 2C gets multiplied by 9/5, getting us 3.6, which added to 82 gives us 85.6.
