The key to this is all is that Matter gives Energy Form, Focus, and most importantly, Purpose. Without Matter nothing does. 'Transcendence', therefor, is something of a con game, as are the theo-ideologies that use it as a 'foundation'."

 

“My Operating Principal really has to be about recruiting the Willing and not trying to convert the Unwilling. While the latter clearly outnumber the former at this point, to be governed by that is to operate from Scarcity. Somehow I think that were the Veil to fully implode that the beings that walked through it might be rather less friendly than E. The Old Gods were wild, primal forces Man could not contain or control and so they worshiped them to tie them down. Were the veil to collapse, however, Gods *and Demons* would both walk through it again easy as they pleased.

Samhain has me rather more paranoid this year than others.

Focus on the this-worldly and assumption it is all there is is not quite the hallmark of one of the Primordial Ones. What is the Natural to they who create the Supernatural? What is the atomic structures in their varieties, infinite smallness giving rise to infinite greatness if it is but the book to its author? To one able to create Gods, why bother with a walking chimpanzee that took thousands of years to create guns, and tens of thousands to reach the furthest corners of its planet, and tens of thousands more to replace its predecessors?

To a being of a mere 500 years the rise and collapse of the United States would be one of many such things attracting no more and no less concern or compassion than that of the great Dons or the vast British and Russian Empires. To a primordial being that predates the formation of the Four Forces themselves, why Earth? Why a race of talking monkeys who jibber and jabber more efficiently, perhaps, than their coarser-hair cousins but within are not the least different at all?

Why not instead the great Tyrannosaurs, or the Brontotheres? The colossi of land as the Sauropods and the rorquals, colossi of the sea? Why Man, who arrogantly sees his perception of the Universe as capable of sending it trundling to its doom when in reality he shall merely be less effective than bacteria were before all is done and the human race's time of glory ends not with a bang but a lengthy and protracted charnel house of horror?
