Stalin voted to recognize Israel because he knew it would create problems for the US in the Middle East, which is why Truman resisted at first. But the American Jewish Lobby, citing The Holocaust, forced his hand.
Israel, surrounded by active enemies, evolved into the Prussia of The Middle East as a matter of survival.
The Arab states, all run by 'strong men', used Israel as a way of distracting their own people from their oppression. The Soviets exploited this during the Cold War.
And so, the so-called Palestinian Arabs - many of whom were in fact only first or second generation 'Palestinians', having been imported from Syria and Lebanon as workers by The British - they became pawns in The Cold War and have now become culturally weaponized to the point where nothing less than the annihilation of Israel is acceptable to them.
That weaponization is why no Arab state wants anything to do with the Palestinians. They've destabilized everywhere they've gone.
