3/18/13

four in the morning
my companion is sleeping
all the cats are sleeping
there is small machine noise
the fan in the window
the fans in the computer
the compressor in the fridge
i eat a roast beef sandwich
outside it is dead quiet
usually i enjoy this
moment
but tonight i feel
empty
i think i shall seek
sleep soon myself
even in stability
loss and disappointment
have steadily dogged me
for a month now
i no longer have
serious drugs
to fortify me
against this hollowness
i get to face it
naked
better that way
in the long run
i know
but...
....well no use for that
sleep has less blowback
and dreams were always
my first drug of choice

Dear Progressives,

You know that whole 'insanity is the keep doing the same thing and expect different results' paradigm? Well, now that y'all got your ass kicked again on Gun Control, how about trying a new tack?

First, let's have a little context. The 1994 Assault Gun Ban was a toothless charade that lost Al Gore his home state which then allowed the GOP to steal the election. [yes, they stole it] And if you think that a Gore White House would have been just as bad as the Bush White House, I recommend you go commit suicide right now so the rest of us can get on with serious work.

Anyway, for better or worse, we Americans love our guns and we ain't giving them up. Period. For those who hate guns...you simply get to deal with that.

Now, a 'new tack'. For those who truly want to start ending gun related homicides, how about we focus on ending The War on Drugs? Roughly half the gun deaths in this country are Drug War related and gun control would have near zero effect upon those. For the Zero Guns crowd, keep Prohibition in mind; that only made matters worse.

The War on Drugs is a National Disaster of Absolute Proportions. It has turned our Inner Cities into War Zones. It has turned us into the largest jailer on the planet. It has gutted the 4th Amendment. It has militarized and corrupted our law enforcement. It has started and funded a civil war on our southern border that has killed over 50,000 people. It has ruined the lives of millions of Americans who did little more than get a bit buzzed. And not only has it 'not' stopped drug abuse, the drugs are stronger and more readily available to the point where we cannot even keep them out of our prisons.

Fighting to end The War on Drugs restores Civil Rights, not denies them. It is a much easier social goal to sell. And it would save lives in ways that Gun Control cannot as this is a multifaceted Social Justice Issue effecting Race, Poverty and Gangs.

So please, instead of doubling down on this futile battle, refocus upon ending The War on Drugs. It won't be easy. There are Vested Interests here that will make the NRA look like amateurs and they will fight to defend their turf. But if you truly honestly believe in 'ending gun violence' this is the best place to start.

And you would also have the support of many of us who have fought you over Gun Rights. Given what happened to Al Gore – and this country – the 2000 Election, such a shift could profoundly change our political landscape in many other ways, as well.

Please, think seriously about this...

~Conspiracy paradigms generally share three common elements.

First, they tend to be insanely complex and convoluted, with lots of 'moving parts' that mesh seamlessly and over long periods of time.

Second, they are operated by a near omnipotent evil cabal whose tentacles extend everywhere.

Third, the above two elements tend to make them self defeating in that there is really no way to defeat these conspiracies as they are alleged to be constituted.

For me 9/11 is perfect example for how to work this shit.

I am fairly certain that the Bush Administration, in the form of Dick Cheney, is essentially responsible for the attacks that day. But not via any of that 9/11 Truther nonsense. No robot planes. No wired buildings. That's the end of “Fight Club” guys, not a viable set of plans. Too complex. Too many moving parts. Too much logistics and too many personnel. [Both The Twin Towers fell on Building Seven, so of course it fucking collapsed. D'uh]

Sure Cheney wanted a terrorist attack to give the Administration political leverage but his plan was diabolical in its simplicity; just leave the door open. He started to dismantle America's internal security measures to prevent a terrorist attack. Sending FBI agents to investigate voluntary suicide doctors in Oregon, or hookers in New Orleans and a number of other ridiculous operations. And he had all warnings of any attack willfully ignored. Given Dubya's nature, that was the easiest part.

Then, all that was required was to wait. I suspect they'd have been happy with an Oklahoma City scale attack. But, as Duyba is reported to have said, they 'hit the Trifecta'.

I pretty sure that a lot of the 9/11 Truther noise that started soon after is Govt supported. It makes the opposition look nuts and generates a lot of cover for the real op. That is how y'all run these things, not all this Hollywood bullshit, but The Hologram has thoroughly trained folks to believe in Hollywood bullshit.

I tell people to read some Le Carre or if that's too much trouble, watch the first season of “The Americans.” That's real spycraft. But who listens to me?
