Life in The Desert
May. 12th, 2013 02:46 pm~It is presently 96° and 9% humidity. There was a Weather Alert about high temps for today - 100° plus predicted - but I suspect we're more or less as hot as we're going to get.
Since last year we've learned how to work with a swamp cooler. Around half five this morning we turned it on to Low Cool and made the house rather cold. I then went to bed and Le-Le not long after, so we could snuggle warmly under bed clothes. This meant that instead of having to cool the house down once it had gotten hot, it now simply warmed up to a comfortable temp.
We can do this because swamp coolers use about a third of the electricity of regular AC. And also because we have a 'flexible' schedule.
